TOMY. is the creative project of Chinese-Australian artist Tommy X. Wu. Since 2016, Wu has navigated diverse music scenes across continents, from late-night DJ sets in Shanghai to live performances in Melbourne’s jazz clubs. Rooted in a lifelong dedication to drumming and shaped by years immersed in vibrant electronic music cultures, TOMY. musical language blends rhythmic depth with electronic sensibilities.
Recently, TOMY. released his debut EP, bluemen & the red sky. Blending electronica, house, and jazz, the project draws from a wide spectrum of influences—from the forward-thinking production of Skrillex and the expressive compositions of Roy Hargrove to the cinematic storytelling of Ludwig Göransson’s film scores. Balancing groove-driven electronic production with emotional nuance and an improviser’s sensibility, the EP creates a sound world that is both intimate and expansive, marking the beginning of a deeply personal and exploratory sonic journey.
